Facilitators: Dr Elspeth Mathie, Sonya Prime and members of the UH Public Involvement and Engagement in Research groups (PIRg).
This workshop is an introduction to involving members of the public in research. It will be a combination of presentations, small group work and a chance to hear from members of our University of Hertfordshire Public in Research group (PIRg) about being involved in different research projects. This workshop is aimed for postgraduate and early career researchers.
This supportive workshop will cover:
What is PPIE? Different models and approaches.
Why is PPIE important?
When to do PPIE? Different stages of the research process
How to do PPIE? Practical considerations, including:
- Ethics
- Different ways to involve people
- Payment/saying thank you
- Public Involvement Standards, the importance of Feedback and other useful resources
- Q&A session with members of the PIRg about their experiences of being involved in research.
