Description:

Facilitators: Dr Louca-Mai Brady, Millie Barnes and members of the University of Hertfordshire Young People’s Research Advisory Group (Herts YPAG).

Children and young people have a right to be involved in things that affect them, including research, but this needs to be done in ways that are accessible and inclusive. This interactive workshop will cover:

- Benefits, best practice and theory of children and young people’s involvement
- Different models and approaches
- Practical and ethical considerations, including inclusion and diversity, safeguarding, working with gatekeepers and payment and recognition.
- Q&A session with members of the Herts YPAG about their experience of being involved in research.
- A chance to apply learning to your own projects and ideas, encouraging dialogue and sharing ideas in a supportive and confidential manner.

This workshop is aimed for postgraduate and early career researchers.
