Description:

Example of a handbook to unify public and patient involvement and engagement (PPIE) approaches across different teams of researchers.

It was designed for members of the the Blood and Transplant Research Unit (BTRU) in Precision Cellular Therapeutics to help unify understanding and approaches across different teams, disciplines and settings - appreciating that many individuals were new to PPIE.

The intention was to improve awareness of existing best practice guidance, develop shared understandings and set out a systematic approach to working with the PPIE Team. It was hoped this would maximise the quality of the PPIE, whilst minimising workload.

Section 1 provides a brief overview of PPIE - with links to find out more.
Section 2 explains how researchers can work with the PPIE Team to (i) make an initial plan for PPIE and (ii) deliver and assess individual PPIE activities. It sets out processes to follow, with links to essential forms and templates.
