Description

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) is one of the principal funders of adult social care research in England. We are committed to boosting social care research and have increased funding and capacity building opportunities across NIHR.

This report was commissioned from SCIE by NIHR in 2019 to stock-take the position regarding public involvement in social care research, explore differences between involvement in health care and social care research, and identify opportunities for further work.

The findings of the report remain highly relevant and therefore it has now been published with a new foreword from Jeremy Taylor and David Abbott, setting it in context and setting out how NIHR have begun to act on some of the recommendations.
